Although I did love the Architects magazine with Stewart Graff on the cover that her husband is reading. The added creepy scene of Marjoe peeping on Rosa undressing was an atrocity.Flying Spaghetti Monsterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09404988493785479942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-85098972293388435932010-12-25T05:43:17.735-05:002010-12-25T05:43:17.735-05:00Dear Mr. "Poseidon": Merry Christmas. She was more than magnificent : she was a godess.
You are right when you write that the "Mayerling" film was "at times a very dull movie". Ava Gardner was magnificent, but O. Sharif was hopeless and not credible at all as the Austrian prince. It takes somebody as complicated, amazing, and mesmerizing as Helmut Berger (in Visconti's "Ludwig") to play a really believable "Mitteleuropa" grandee.Ana Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15254592284833176658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-81860597449040934482010-06-04T11:33:45.836-04:002010-06-04T11:33:45.836-04:00Yes, the argument scene in the beginning of the fi...Yes, the argument scene in the beginning of the film was originally longer and Chuck was doing more exercise during it, including the rowing machine, but as the scene got winnowed down, that disappeared.

Thanks again and have fun here!

PS - Lee got to play a very similar type of role later in Airport '77!Poseidon3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10465785002285422594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-9968586867989440162010-06-04T11:28:55.281-04:002010-06-04T11:28:55.281-04:00THERES ALOT OF INTERESTING STUFF HERE ON POSIEDONS...THERES ALOT OF INTERESTING STUFF HERE ON POSIEDONS UNDERWORLD !! I agree completely about the way stars who had apparently been set to the side by the viewing public could come back in these spectacles and let us see them again. I love that! Heston and Gardner had a really rough time during their first film together, 55 Days at Peking, and he dreaded working with her again, but this time they got along well and, as you say, he thought a lot of her and her work.

Take care,

PoseidonPoseidon3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10465785002285422594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-9798036835713122932010-06-03T17:17:00.433-04:002010-06-03T17:17:00.433-04:00I REALLY LIKED THIS PIECE ABOUT AVA GARDNER IN &qu...I REALLY LIKED THIS PIECE ABOUT AVA GARDNER IN "EARTHQUAKE"....
I TOO THOUGHT SHE DID A WONDERFUL JOB IN THIS FILM, AND WHEN IT WAS COMPLETED HER CO STARS, INCLUDING CHARLTON HESTON, PRAISED HER EFFORTS AS REMY GRAFF!!! BETWEEN ALL THOSE BIG, GREAT DISASTER FILMS OF THE 1970S'...IT WAS WONDERFUL TO SEE MORE MATURE STARS COMING OUT OF HIDING....THEIR BIG HOLLYWOOD NAMES, I'M CONVINCED, ADDED TO THE SUCCESS OF EACH FILM ITS SELF.....
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS WITH THE MOVIE STILLS FROM "EARTHQUAKE".
BEST WISHES,
BILLY RALPH WEEDEN.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09175501530224801002noreply@blogger.com
