I must have looked at her limited credits on the show (without properly noting the years!) and assessed that she was one of the ones sent packing right away. I never even realized there'd been an addition like this, but I also was not a very regular viewer of the show. I'm glad you clarified this and I've updated the post accordingly.Poseidon3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10465785002285422594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-13477201690393501732020-06-03T15:52:11.347-04:002020-06-03T15:52:11.347-04:00Great article. Just wanted to clarify a little so...Great article. Just wanted to clarify a little something you wrote about Pamela Adlon. She was not a member of the original cast of Facts of Life. She was hired years after that infamous first season purge in the 83-84 season to play the recurring role of Kelly Affinado, a young Jo-esque character that would give an older Jo a chance to develop her maturity by helping to curb the edge off street-wise Kelly, a younger version of her old self. Adlon was hired for a number of episodes, but was written out of the show that same season before she honored that number; Adlon revealed in a radio interview that Nancy McKeon didn't like the idea of having a mini-Jo in the story and was very cold towards her on set; without warning, Adlon found herself fired from the show and Kelly, a sudden new constant visitor to the girl's store, was never seen or heard from ever again. tonyatmidnighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02510262933408567931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-39806854465788009772015-06-30T06:57:54.063-04:002015-06-30T06:57:54.063-04:00Thank you for the coverage of this gem from my chi...Thank you for the coverage of this gem from my childhood. As with any film I profile here, I think revisiting it apart from previous grainy, pan 'n scan prints (and this is very much a widescreen film) helps bring it back to life somewhat. Then there's the fact that in the three decades since it came out, there has been so much WORSE garbage unleashed on the public that somehow it comes off better in comparison. But, of course, none of that would matter if one can't get past the music. See if you can try again! You might get "the earwig!" It's one of the few musicals I've ever only seen once, but you make me want to watch it again. I just remember it as being sobad and off-puttingly smutty (and me, so usually fond of smut). Read in a memoir about producer Allen Carr how he had such a crush on Maxwell Caulfield and (whom he had planned to build into a big star had Caulfield "played his cards right") but dropped the hetero hunk summarily when he rebuffed Carr's chubby-in-a-kaftan advances.Ken Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04940648971296673233noreply@blogger.com
