I was thisclose to using a promotional photo from The Shrike, a rare unsympathetic role of hers, the pictures from which are roll-on-the-floor funny! I think the only movie I ever saw Haver in was a time travel musical called, I think, Where do We Go From Here, and she was all right, but nothing astonishing...

Thombeau, thanks for the link and the chance to see Christy in action. Anyone who hasn't visited Thombeau's infectiously addictive blog has missed a real treat. Like the sign says, the videos are fun and funny enough, but the comments that he and his followers leave only heighten the hilarity factor. I especially like how you succinctly (a foreign concept to me! lol) caption each video with a pithy remark: http://ultimatevariety.blogspot.com/Poseidon3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10465785002285422594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-82818046012289208642012-06-30T23:58:27.109-04:002012-06-30T23:58:27.109-04:00Thanks so much for including The Misty Miss Christ...Thanks so much for including The Misty Miss Christy! I'm a fan of many of the ladies profiled particularly June Christie, one of the queens of an interpretive form of singing that has sadly fallen out of favor, the unique Baby June and the classy June Lockhart.

I never quite understood how June Haver was a serious contender to be top blonde at Fox. She was certainly attractive and could dance skillfully with a voice that was pretty without being extraordinary but she comes across as so bland, none of Alice Faye's sincerity, Betty Grable's snap or Marilyn Monroe's vulnerability or flesh impact. It seems mean to say she was a place holder but that's how it looks now.

Where June Allyson is concerned she is usually so appealing on screen but having recently read a biography of Joan Blondell and Betty Hutton's autobiography, a harrowing tale full of Dickensian horrors especially in her childhood, that both included stories of Junie that presented her in a less than flattering light as an ambitious, spiteful grabber. She's was obviously a better actress than she was credited with.joel65913https://www.blogger.com/profile/14526657073681774683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-54090711559176226112012-06-28T13:39:31.754-04:002012-06-28T13:39:31.754-04:00Love, love, love The Dalton! (Even with an eye-patch.)

The only reason I though of Ms. Gable is because of Legend of the Superheroes and, of course, Moose Murders.

Thanks for keeping me on my toes with another great entry!NotFelixUngerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04812102754911699275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-46911927693805235492012-06-28T12:59:24.645-04:002012-06-28T12:59:24.645-04:00Ahhh... I actually have written about June Gable here before and there are several pictures of her in this posting!

http://neptsdepths.blogspot.com/2011/07/catch-this-falling-starr.htmlPoseidon3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10465785002285422594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-4737069622022230822012-06-28T12:34:51.434-04:002012-06-28T12:34:51.434-04:00I can only think of one missing June: June Gable. ...I can only think of one missing June: June Gable. :-)

From Wiki

June Gable has appeared in four Broadway productions including the 1974 revival of Candide for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of the Old Lady.

She was featured as Snooks Keene in the infamous Broadway disaster, Moose Murders, which opened and closed on the same night in 1983. She was also in one of the replacement casts in the off-Broadway show "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris."

On television, she was in the cast of the short-lived 1977 revival of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. In 1979 she appeared as "Rhoda Rooter" on the live-action Hanna-Barbera TV specials Legends of the Superheroes.

She guested in episodes of popular series including Miami Vice and Kate & Allie. From 1994 to 2004 she played Estelle Leonard, the agent of the Matt LeBlanc character Joey Tribbiani, on the sitcom Friends, as well as the nurse that assists in Ben's birth in the season one episode "The One With The Birth". She also played recurring characters on the sitcoms Barney Miller, Sha Na Na and Dream On.NotFelixUngerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04812102754911699275noreply@blogger.com
