One great movie updo you may have missed was the one Demi Moore wore as the past-peak lounge singer Virginia Fallon in the Emilio Estevez film "Bobby". Utter gorgeousness! http://www.hotflick.net/flicks/2006_Bobby/006BBY_Demi_Moore_013.jpgIwannabeClairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02370333987099771668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-89439300233935094612013-01-26T12:24:43.434-05:002013-01-26T12:24:43.434-05:00Ooops! I've seen many of the films you mentioned and I remember watching the Lennon Sisters and other beautifully updo'd ladies on the Welk show (another TV program of the era that was great for bouffants was The King Family, who have some videos posted to YouTube).

I do wish some of these fabulous styles would come back, but many stylists today don't know how to do them properly as they require time consuming wet sets, teasing, and elaborate styling when most salons today focus on customer volume and traffic for maximizing profit, so many updo's are done with curling irons to save time.

Sigh. There's just something about a gorgeous retro updo that sets my heart a-flutter!

Claire O'Neill

PS. You might want to check out DP Johnson's great "Beauty and the Bouffant" site; lots of yummy pics!IwannabeClairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02370333987099771668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-24396483786419809052013-01-10T10:31:59.801-05:002013-01-10T10:31:59.801-05:00Scooter, I'm so glad you enjoyed this and that...Scooter, I'm so glad you enjoyed this and that you have discovered Vestal and friends, but I am also horrified because now I will - AGAIN - have Looking for a City burned into my brain like a musical earwig for the rest of the day!! It's a neverending loop of music that I can't seem to get rid of once I starting hearing it between my ears..... It was worth the time. It lead me to her singing side kick, Johnny Cook. He is also worthy of comment...I just can't think of what to say.Scooterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09874254346853382934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-72052520533609889042013-01-08T16:44:13.320-05:002013-01-08T16:44:13.320-05:00Always get a kick out of these hairdo posts and al...Always get a kick out of these hairdo posts and always think you have the makings of a book with these increasingly bizarre photos! Even though I was alive at the time and thought such hair hard-ons were the height of Hollywood glamour to my young eyes, as I age, they begin to look more and more surreal. My fave in that department is Edy Williams', but my all time favorite hair-hopper will always be Jo Anne Worley. The other person I thought of was Sue Ane Langdon who often had sky high hair whether it was attached or her own was teased to the absolute limits of possibility.joel65913https://www.blogger.com/profile/14526657073681774683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-19639519550857054132013-01-04T18:47:13.786-05:002013-01-04T18:47:13.786-05:00Now John, you know better than that!
