It'...I think both of you will enjoy Summertree. It's a leisurely movie, to be sure, but at 88 minutes in length, it shouldn't bee too arduous for anyone, especially if the stars in it appeal to you. NotFelix, as I said, if you like Vaccaro, this is a dream come true!

As to Garr, her autobiography was quite entertaining, too. She's very frank about some of her obsessive behavior. Her account of being an extra in a beach party movie and getting buried in the sand and left helpless had me pigsnorting in the middle of a restaurant!

Thanks, you guys! ;-) (I'm typing this from the ballroom of a casino where I'm working on a huge convention. Will be back in full action at The Underworld soon!)Poseidon3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10465785002285422594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-91242989986724221652012-08-21T20:05:35.892-04:002012-08-21T20:05:35.892-04:00OMG! I've got to get this movie.

Regarding Garr, I have to say I thought she deserved the Oscar much more than Lange. "Tootsie" is one of my favorite movies of all time. I found Julie (Lange) to be a one-note character with little nuance or range. Sandy (Garr) on the other hand, was expressing every possible emotion in her actor's tool-kit (no words just nuance and facial expressions) as she THOUGHT she was in a relationship with Michael/Dorothy.

Teri Garr was side-tracked (I think) by her physical limitations. As a comedic actress (and even dramatic) she is a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

Both Vaccaro and Garr are rumored to be great Gals (with a capital g).

Lange on the other hand, well, she's supposed to be the "star" type. I've heard horror stories about her and, yes, I have my own reputable sources! :-)

Both Vaccaro and Garr are great with fans and reply to fan mail -I know. Lange...not so much. 'Nuff said.

NotFelixUngerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04812102754911699275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006108502645191096.post-90088287038693509662012-08-21T18:34:19.729-04:002012-08-21T18:34:19.729-04:00I had never heard of this either but I was able to...I had never heard of this either but I was able to queue it through Netflix so now that my interest is piqued I can check it out. I'm not always the biggest fan of Douglas although I prefer him when he was younger in The China Syndrome and the like than the smug jerks he seems to specialize in now, I did enjoy Wonder Boys but that was a throwback to his more relaxed style.
I love older films that inadvertently have star studded casts like this. You get to see people on the way up, or sometimes on the way down, or a respected actor or actress like Bel Geddes who worked steadily before they got that one part that shot them into the public consciousness.joel65913https://www.blogger.com/profile/14526657073681774683noreply@blogger.com
